Have You Found the Narrow Door?
There is a question that has been sitting heavy on my heart all week. And then Sunday morning my pastor stood up and preached the very same thing — and I knew. This is not a coincidence. This is the Holy Spirit, and He has something to say to every one of us today.
The question is this:
Have we been lost — and not even known it?
In Luke 13, someone asks Jesus a question that stops me every time I read it:
"Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?"
And Jesus does not answer the way we might expect. He does not give a number. He does not give a statistic. Instead He says this:
"Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able."
— Luke 13:24 NASB
And in Matthew 7 He says it again — even more plainly:
"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it."
— Matthew 7:13-14 NASB
Friend — I need you to sit with that for a moment.
The door is narrow. And it will not always be open.
In Luke 13 Jesus goes on to say that the owner of the house will get up and shut the door. And those standing outside will knock and say "Lord, open up to us!" And He will say "I do not know where you are from."
That is one of the most sobering passages in all of Scripture. Because these were not people who openly rejected God. These were people who ate and drank in His presence. People who heard His teaching in their streets. People who thought proximity was the same as relationship.
But it was not.
Here is the truth that the Holy Spirit will not let me walk away from this week:
Sometimes that choice — the choice of whether you enter through the narrow door — is made for you. Not by God forcing your hand — but by time running out. By a door that closes. By a life that ends before the decision was ever truly made.
So let me ask you — gently, lovingly, and with everything in me — what does your heart reveal?
Because when we are truly saved — when we have genuinely entered through that narrow door — our actions begin to reveal what is living inside us. Not perfectly. Not without struggle. But the direction of our life begins to point toward Him. We hunger for His Word. We grieve our sin. We want to know Him more.
Is that what your life is revealing?
If you are not sure — if something in you is stirring right now — I want you to know that the door is still open today. Right now. In this moment.
Here is what I want to invite you to do:
Ask for repentance. Tell God the truth about where you are. Receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior — not as a religion, not as a tradition, not as a box you checked — but as the living God who died for you and rose again and is standing at the door of your heart right now.
And then — begin to build that relationship. Because that is what He wants more than anything. Not your performance. Not your perfection. Your heart.
He is not looking for people who knew about Him. He is looking for people who know Him.
The door is narrow. But it is open.
And He is standing right there on the other side — waiting for you.
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me."
— Revelation 3:20 NASB
Today's Reflection: If Jesus asked you today — "Do I know you?" — what would your life answer? Is there a step you need to take today to move from knowing about Him to truly knowing Him?
— Rebecca
